Pop Pop Visit

Turtles

Hanging out in Pop Pop's hotel room
Pop Pop and Denise came to visit.  The timing of their vist was  for Victor's change of command but due to scheduling in the Army this was unable to happen.  We still had a wonderful visit with them.  Kai was able to go swimming with Pop Pop nearly everyday of his visit.

We went to a luau at the Hale Koa, a tour of the South Shore, a tour of the North Shore, the BN change of command, beach time and relaxing pool side.

4 months old

Turtles love Kai

Victor wondering if the turtle would bite Kai :-)

Little Kai guy will be 4 months old tomorrow and is scheduled to get his 4 month shots at the doctor.  We went early this morning to a local North Shore beach to take his photos.  We went to Lanikea Beach also known as turtle beach.  There are plenty of turtles here but it has a good amount of tourists so I usually stick to our turtle beach.
Kai fell asleep the moment our feet hit the sand.  So we were able to take turns swimming until he woke up.  Once, Kai woke up we took his pictures.  Kai was super interested in looking at the ocean and turtles which shows off his pirate rash guard.   Then Kai went with his Pa for a swim.  Almost immediately, a turtle swam over to Kai.

Honu

Kai and I were escaping the heat in the evening. We frequent a nearby beach because there are always turtles, and a lifeguard at the swimming portion. This particular evening, we sat beneath a shady tree and Kai napped for a bit. As we sat on the beach enjoying the breeze watching the turtles popping their heads out of the water, one turtle came ashore to sun himself. This turtle was intrigued by Kai and kept trying to get a good look at him. We were able to get a Japanese tourist to take a picture. This may have been the same turtle that swam with me while Kai was still cooking in my belly. Green sea turtles are very common at our local beach. I included some photos from other visits. Green turtles are endangered and protected by Federal and Hawaiian law.
