Honu

Kai and I were escaping the heat in the evening. We frequent a nearby beach because there are always turtles, and a lifeguard at the swimming portion. This particular evening, we sat beneath a shady tree and Kai napped for a bit. As we sat on the beach enjoying the breeze watching the turtles popping their heads out of the water, one turtle came ashore to sun himself. This turtle was intrigued by Kai and kept trying to get a good look at him. We were able to get a Japanese tourist to take a picture. This may have been the same turtle that swam with me while Kai was still cooking in my belly. Green sea turtles are very common at our local beach. I included some photos from other visits. Green turtles are endangered and protected by Federal and Hawaiian law.
