New Toy

This weekend, we bought Kai a new toy. To show his approval of the toy he promptly places it in his mouth to ensure that is tastes great. This toy is not as easy as some of his other toys in getting it in his mouth.

Honu

Kai and I were escaping the heat in the evening. We frequent a nearby beach because there are always turtles, and a lifeguard at the swimming portion. This particular evening, we sat beneath a shady tree and Kai napped for a bit. As we sat on the beach enjoying the breeze watching the turtles popping their heads out of the water, one turtle came ashore to sun himself. This turtle was intrigued by Kai and kept trying to get a good look at him. We were able to get a Japanese tourist to take a picture. This may have been the same turtle that swam with me while Kai was still cooking in my belly. Green sea turtles are very common at our local beach. I included some photos from other visits. Green turtles are endangered and protected by Federal and Hawaiian law.

It has been close to 90 this week and the trade winds have not been blowing. So we have been spending some time in the only air conditioned room in the house. Kai was playing with his taggies ball on his blanket and Caspian decided to join him.

This weekend we are heading to Kahala Beach for a party which should present itself with some great photos.

Playtime

Kai is working hard on rolling over while playing on his mat. Caspian likes to keep a close eye on everything and hang out with little Kai guy. Thanks to Nana for the sailor outfit.

Later today after our trip to the commissary and PX, Kai played with his rattle. Here is the video.

All of this excitement led to exhaustion. I have not mastered the layout yet, but at least we are able to share.

Happy Birthday to Nana and Felicity!!!

Bottle Time

April was the last time I had my haircut and Victor had a week day off, so I made an appointment and left Kai with his Pa. They read books from Nana, played on Kai's playmat and walked Caspian. Kai took his bottle but was happy when the real thing came home.

3 months already

Kai is already three months. Being a mom is the best thing that I have ever done, and I am truly loving every moment of Kai. I really appreciate that I am able to stay home and provide him with constant love. He started sleeping through the night two weeks ago, when Super Nanny Maries was visiting. Now that I have been sleeping, it does seem to be going by really fast. So much has happened since Kai has joined our family. I have already survived 2 weeks as a single parent courtesy of the Army. Aunt Taylor came for a visit, Victor completed his first triathlon, Kai stayed in his first hotel room (oceanfront at Waikiki) and Maries came to visit. It was so wonderful to have visitors and an extra pair of hands.

It has been amazing to see how quickly Kai is growing. Today he weighed in at 14 pounds. Yesterday morning, we went to the Waialua beach early to take his monthly photos. Kai was wonderful for the camera. Caspian had some trouble not walking over what was written. We try to go to the beach early in the morning or in the evening when the sun is not blazing overhead. We will try to post more pictures of our Hawaiian adventures.
