Decorating our eggs
Kai participated i several egg hunts and Spring festitivies.  Victor was away for work in Colorado and we kept busy.  He attended a bunny and egg decorating party on Schofield.  A second FRG sponsored Spring Fest, storytime and egg hunt in Waialua and we decorated eggs.  Kai was not a fan of the bunny.  We tried to visit him at the NEX, Kai gave a high five and high tailed it over to the waterfall. He did play next to him at the one party, but that was about it.  We did not dye our eggs, because we buy local eggs they were already pretty, so our own batch we put stickers on.

Engineer week is when the130th Engineer Brigade plays a sport tornament all week long.  This means that the FRG is able to fundraise, all week long.  Again the 561st won the commander's cup.  The week ended with a ball at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.  Kai spent the night with his babysitters Kat and Kyra and waited up for us.

Accepting responsibility
Victor took command of the 561st Engineer Company in a ceremony held on Hamilton Field on Schofield Barracks.  The company does horizontal construction.  It was a beautiful Hawaiian day.  Kai enjoyed throwing his hat on the ground during the ceremony and having the new BN commander pick it up.

Busy being 8 months

Some dude supporting the Packers

Some Seahawk players
Our week in review  The weather has been perfect.  High in the mid 80s and in the high 60s at night.  In Alaska, it is -50.  We are loving Hawaii right now.

On Thursday, we joined Kai's friends Halle and Anthony to see the ProBowl practice at Hickam Airforce Base.  The babies loved it and we were able to meet and greet with the players.

Friday, Kai had music class. He continues to love music class.  His highlight so far was when all the babies were gathered around the teacher playing the guitar.  Kai decides to eat the fretboard.  All the moms gave a collective "ahhhhhhh".

Playing with his toys, spinning wheels
He had been congested and it got worse, so I ended up taking him to the acute care clinic to see how serious it was.  He just has a really bad cold but they gave him a chest xray to check for pneumonia.  That was awful.  Kai was in his diaper and had to go in this medieval contraption.  It was so sad.  That night, Victor and I went to "Valentine's in Vegas" for the 84th BN.  We left Kai Guy with our neighbor Kat.  His first paid baby sitter.  Kai did really well and Victor and I had a nice evening together.
Something about soliders and cartoons is funny, waiting at the ACC

All dressed up for Valentines in Vegas

Saturday we walked to the beach in the morning.  Victor, Caspian and I went swimming while Kai napped in his stroller on the shore.  We then drove into Waikiki, as I had a farewell for the BN commanders wife and a moonlight Mai Tai cruise.  It was a beautiful night in Waikiki.  Kai, Victor and Travis took in the street party for the pro bowl.  While I floated in the Pacific on a catamaran with the ladies.  Kai was not feeling well and after the cruise, we all went back home.

Kai's favorite thing to play with is any of his cars, trucks or trains.  He loves to turn them upside down and spin the wheels.

6 months of fun

Today Kai turns 6 months old.  We are spending the weekend in Waikiki at the Hale Koa for a Strong Bonds Retreat.  Caspian is at doggie daycare at Tails of Hawaii.  Kai will spend his first day of his 6 month in day care. Kai did really well in the daycare and I was able to go down and feed him whenever.  Several of his friends were in the day care and he was happy to crawl around and play with all the new toys.  The Hilton Hawaiian Village does fireworks every Friday night and accidentally we had front row seats.

Early on the 19th we went to the beach at Waikiki to do Kai's 6th month photo shoot.

Veterans Day low Crawl

Victor low crawling at Waimea Bay
So happy to leave his blanket behind

Kai low crawling at Waialua
Kai will sit for a short period of time but what he is most interested in is crawling.  This week he has  mastered his low crawl.  Today he would not stay still and was crawling all over the living room.  He is able to check everything out and is enjoying his new mobility immensely.  It has made him very hungry and he is exhausted.

Besides Kai mastering his crawl, we had a nice veteran's day.  Victor was home from work, it is always nice to have him around on Veteran's day because he is often deployed or TDY for holidays.  We walked to the beach this morning and spent some time there.  The waves were pretty big so we did not go swimming.  Victor worked on some of his pinball machines in the afternoon.  We then went to the Pearlridge mall and Victor had a free dinner at Chili's for veteran's day.

Tomorrow night, I am leaving Kai with Victor to attend a social with the other wives of 84 Engineers Battalion.  This BN is very different from the 3 we were in while we lived in Alaska.  Each of these had socials, called coffees, monthly.  It is a nice way to get to know everyone and find out what is going on with your husband's schedule. These were always held during the week and children were always welcomed.  My very first one was 2 weeks after we moved to Alaska and the BN commander's wife picked me up at the hotel and drove me.  This is the third one that they have had since we moved here in March.  I am looking forward to the chance to meet and make some new friends.  But I am very anxious about not putting Kai to sleep.  And I am not sure how he will do with a bottle at night.  I am sure that I will leave early because it is 45 minutes away and I will want to see my baby.

Halloween Party

Cutest pineapple ever

Kai wondering why he has to wear all of this

Kai with his friends
Friday night was the 84th Engineer Battlion Halloween Party and Kai's first Halloween Party.  He debuted his Pineapple costume.  He was not a fan of the hat and kept kicking off his botties.  But he was absolutely adorable. He participated in a costume contest and won a ribbon for "Most Original Costume"  which he promptly tried to eat.  Kai had a great time seeing some of his friends and going trunk or treating.  It is nice to live in a climate where costumes are not covered by jackets.
