Beach babes

We spent the day at Turtle Bay.  It has a wonderful protected lagoon and you can use most of the amenties at the hotel.  Peggy came from town and we met up with Dara and Kai's friend Olive for some fun in the sun and sand.

April Adventures

April was a busy month and here are some quick updates on things I have skipped over.

Our monthly concert at the Waialua Bandstand.  Kai attracted quite a following, showing off his dance moves.  The band played traditional Hawaiian music and Kai now has a devoted audience.

The Taste of Waialua was this month.  This was a fun event while I was pregnant, Kai enjoyed it again this year.  He was covered in all his tastings by the end of the event.

We started our 2nd semester of music class, this semester is "Triangle".  We now have to drive to Honolulu but Kai loves it.  He is one of 3 Kai's in his class, I doubt once we leave Hawaii that will happend again.  He is the only blonde one.

Kai likes riding the Hot Dog truck

Kai has a new drum we purchased at the Aloha Swap Meet.  He loves to play it.

11 months

Kai is 11 months.  Whoa, time is now flying.  Kai is able to do so much.  He has taken off walking, and can walk all over the house. His proud face is adorable as he walks, he still will use his alligator walker and can manuever it around objects but he is more the capable to independently walk. He still loves to dance and has a dance move that he shakes his head and swings his arms with a huge smile.  He loves playing with trucks, drums and Caspian.  He enjoys going for walks in his stroller to the beach.  Kai loves music class.  He is a really good eater.  His favorite food is watermelon and hummus.  He will try any food once. When he is eating he gets really excited and kicks his legs.  He is starting to outgrow some of his baby mannerisms.  When he use to climb the stairs he would tap the next step with his hand as if it were a glacier and he was looking for a crevas.  Now he just sails up the stairs.

Walking baby

Kai reached the milestone of walking.  He has been stepping for quite some time.  This week he awoke on a Monday and decidced he was done stepping and now will walk.  He walks everywhere.  It is so stinking cute.  I walk to the kitchen and he toddles after me.  He initally looked like a drunken sailor walking a little to the left, then a little to the right.  He is now able to walk in stright lines and has quicken his step.  No doubt running will be next.  Clearly, this was a milestone Kai wanted to master before he turned 11 months and he did.  He now gets to proudly say he was walking at 10 months.  I am such a proud mama.

Shark Diving

Crusing out to sea

Sharks!

duhduhduh

the cage

What a morning!  Nicole and I arose early and left the house at 6:15 leaving Kai with his Pa.  We arrived at Haleiwa Boat Harbor and boarded our vessel for a 3 mile trip out to sea where we would climb into a cage to view sharks.  On our way out to sea we watched Humpback Whales frolic in the ocean.  We arrived at our spot and immediately Galapagos sharks swam to the surface.  They were joined by tiger sharks.  When we entered the cage, the sharks swam around, they were close enough to touch, but we refrained.  When you went underwater you could hear the humpback whales singing.  Once we adjusted to breathing through our snorkel, we enjoyed the sharks.  On our way back to the boat harbor, we passed by a pod of 80 spinner dolphins swimming in pairs.  They were incredibly playful and jumped and swam around the boat.

Nicole was able to come spend her Spring Break with us.  Kai and I picked her up at the airport and had dinner in Honolulu Harbor.  We took her to the Windward side, Bellows Beach, all over the North Shore, to the Buddhist Temple, hiking, FRG meetings, to a polo match and to Kai's music class.  We had so much fun exploring Hawaii together and watching Kai become more confident walking.

Baptism

Kai's baptism was held April 9, 2012 at St Michael's Church in Waialua and presided over by Fr Christopher.  Kai and another baby shared their baptism day in an intimate ceremony.  Kai loved the water followed closely by the candle and the fan at the church. Both of Kai's godparents, Nicole and Travis, were able to attend the ceremony.  I chose Nicole to be Kai's godmother, as she has a strong Catholic faith and is my best friend since freshman year of Scranton.  Victor chose Travis who has been Victor's best friend in the Army.  Kai's friend Halle and her mom came to the service and Jessica provided us with amazing photos.  After the baptism, we celebrated with breakfast at Cafe Haleiwa.

Easter

Kai's easter basket

Examing the contents

Egg hunt

Happy Easter!  Nicole flew in on Easter eve and was able to celebrate the holiday with us.  Easter morning, Kai woke to find his first Easter basket.  During the egghunt Kai was assisted by Caspian who realized that he could bite the plastic eggs and eat Kai's puffs that were hidden in them.  Caspian enjoyed the egg hunt a bit more then Kai this time.  We went to church and were able to stand outside where it was a bit cooler during the service.  We enjoyed an Easter brunch at Sam Snead's and Travis joined us for the festivities.
