Barking Sands, Kauai
My high school friend, Lauren came to visit. She was interested in island hopping so Kai and I joined her for a trip to Kauai. We stayed at Barking Sands Missile Facility in a cottage on the Pacific Ocean. Our cottage had views of dolphins, and the island of Niihau. Most intersting were the birds that nest under the cottages and make noises similar to a crying baby. Sure enough I would wake up at night and stare at Kai peacefully sleeping while the birds called.
While on the garden isle, we stopped at Kauai Coffee and checked ou their coffee plantation. Kai enjoyed playing on the beach and at totland.

Alie comes to Visit
Alie spent the week visiting us. We had an awesome time visiting with her. Since Vic was around, I was able to go paddle boarding and snorkling with her while she was here. Alie was able to take advantage of the swell and go surfing.

Baptism
Kai's baptism was held April 9, 2012 at St Michael's Church in Waialua and presided over by Fr Christopher. Kai and another baby shared their baptism day in an intimate ceremony. Kai loved the water followed closely by the candle and the fan at the church. Both of Kai's godparents, Nicole and Travis, were able to attend the ceremony. I chose Nicole to be Kai's godmother, as she has a strong Catholic faith and is my best friend since freshman year of Scranton. Victor chose Travis who has been Victor's best friend in the Army. Kai's friend Halle and her mom came to the service and Jessica provided us with amazing photos. After the baptism, we celebrated with breakfast at Cafe Haleiwa.

Cry Baby Matinee
After reading the Hunger Games Triology in five days, I was ready to see the movies. I had recently discovered that the local theathers have a weekly Cry Baby Matinee. Once a week there is a specific show and theather where babies and children are allowed to go and make noise. The lights are not completely dimmed and no one looks at you when the baby makes noise. Kai went with his friends Austin and Teddy and of course there Mamas to see the Hunger Games in Kapolei. He enjoyed talking to Teddy behind him, making friends with the baby girl 2 rows ahead of him and standing in the back with Austin. I was able to see the majority of the movie. Kai was exhausted when it was over and slept the whole way home.
