Cry Baby Matinee
After reading the Hunger Games Triology in five days, I was ready to see the movies. I had recently discovered that the local theathers have a weekly Cry Baby Matinee. Once a week there is a specific show and theather where babies and children are allowed to go and make noise. The lights are not completely dimmed and no one looks at you when the baby makes noise. Kai went with his friends Austin and Teddy and of course there Mamas to see the Hunger Games in Kapolei. He enjoyed talking to Teddy behind him, making friends with the baby girl 2 rows ahead of him and standing in the back with Austin. I was able to see the majority of the movie. Kai was exhausted when it was over and slept the whole way home.

Playing drums with Rogan |
On Friday, Kai had his last music class for the semester. The theme was bells and Kai loved class and made some great new friends there. For the last class, he brought a lei in for Miss Peggy. He was serenaded with the ukulele and he was able to sit on the teacher's lap for " Trot Ol' Joe".

10 months
Kai is 10 months old! It is amazing how quickly he is growing. He is still trying to walk and taking a few steps. He loves to babble and talk to "dog-dog." Kai loves going for rides in his stroller and playing with dog-dog. He is really good at keeping a beat and has developed a really good sense of rhythm from music class.
Unfortunately, Kai's 10 month also started with his first bladder infection. He had a fever all weekend and it spiked to 104. I brought him in to see his pediatrician and she ordered blood work and a cath to see if it was a bladder infection. Kai did great with the prodding but they brought me a box of tissues. Despite his fair skin, getting blood proved to be difficult. The results came back positive for a bladder infection and Kai was not himself. He cried way more then he ever had thankfully he made a quick recovery. Kai is now back to his happy, laughing self.

Jimmy Buffet
Jimmy Buffett was playing at the Waikiki Shell. Victor's friend from college had extra tickets, so we took Kai to his first concert not at the Waialua Bandstand. We had lawn seats and hearing protection. The music was not loud and Kai enjoyed the music. He was not the youngest baby, there were two 4 month olds there, but he did get cheers for being at his first concert. Some highlights were the opener of Wish you Were Here the Weather is Beautiful, Son of a Salior, Duke's on Sunday, and Five o'clock Somewhere.

Happy St Patrick's Day
Happy St Patrick's Day. Happy St Patrick's Day. Happy St. Patrick's Day to you and me!!
Kai celebrated his first St Patrick's Day Hawaiian style. He started the day with watermelon for breakfast and then went with both parents to a make up music class. Kai was thrilled to have his Papa there to sing and dance with him. We skipped the parades and drunken merriment in Chinatown.
We ended the day with a walk to the beach. There was driftwood everywhere on the beach from the recent storms. Kai liked playing with all the driftwood while Caspian chased coconuts in the water.

Pa comes home
On Saturday, Victor came home from Arizona after being down there for a little over a month. Kai was thrilled to see "didi". It was a busy Saturday, first we had a farewell picnic for the 84th BN at the Hale Koa and then we met up with Heather. It was so nice to see Heather again and she spoiled Kai with lots of clothes. Somehow, I forgot to take a picture or capture the moment.
Then we drove home and Victor was able to set up his 3 new pinball machines. Travis came over and the boys had fun in the garage. Kai was so excited he stayed up until 9:30.

One year in Hawaii

March 9, 2010 Waialua |
My Hawaiian bucket list is growing. Island Hopping is number one on that list. I want to check out Kauai and Maui. It would be nice to go back to the Big Island too. We have to do it in the next 14 months while flying with Kai is free. On my list on a hike to Kaena Point to see the monk seals, hike to several of the local waterfalls, hike Koko Head and Diamond Head. I still want to get my diving certification and now that Kai is getting older I hope to do this soon.
