Tsunami Warning

Monster Ball and view from our tsunami evacuation home.
Saturday was quite the busy day. We started the day with a bike ride to Haleiwa Cafe where we all got our usual.  Then we went to look at the boats in the harbor, stopped to watch the meheune surf contest and then to choo choo train park.  Rouding out hte bike tour with a stop at the Waialua Farmers Market.  After a busy morning we spent the rest of the day at the house.  We put Kai in the car to drive to Turtle Bay for their Halloween Party.  Kai was the cutest shark again.  After a stop at the fruit stand a few quick sunset photos, Kai joined the costume contest.  Then he went on the bounce house.  Of course he loved it and did not mind getting trampled by the big kids.  We visited the horses then went to the Kahuku Grill for dinner.  Kai enjoyed running around collecting pikake flowers and playing wiht the old sugar mill equipment while we waited for our food.  It was when we were leaving dinner that Victor got the call about the tsunami.  The line at the gas station had been crazy but I had chalked that up for it being closed on Sunday because it was run by Mormons.  We drove home, try to stop at Log's Drugs but they were already closed.  When we got home, the sirens were blaring and it was all over the radio.  The earthquake in British Columbia was 7.7 and could send a tsunami at 10:28 to Hawaii shores.  Out house is on the inudation line on the map.  I packed some clothes and diapers and drove Kai and I to my friend Chelsea's house who lives in the mountains of Waialua.  Kai had spent the previous night there when Victor and I went to the Monster Ball, so he was ready to play.  By 1030 nothing happened and Kai would not settle to sleep so I came off the mountain.  I had to drive around a police barricade who told me to enter at my own risk.  Kai and I were happy to sleep in our own bed and Caspi was thrilled to have his pack together.

Beach playdate

Kai running for the ocean

Kai, Halle and Mark Dale

On Tuesday, Kai had a playdate at the Ko Olina lagoons.  Kai and I had made cupcakes the night before for Jessica's birthday.  Kai had a great time playing in the water, on the rocks and then running around.  He enjoyed the company of Halle, Mckenzie, and Mark Dale.

Word of the week

This week Kai has replaced "nonononono" with "more". Complete with sign language more.  More food, more park, more bike, more pinball.  All Kai wants is more.  We watched a butterfly on the flowers outside.  It stayed for awhile but once it flew away.  "bubba, more more".  WE now read stories 8 times in a row.  And more paball is a favorite.  paball=pinball  and we always want more pinball.

We painted the pumpkin we picked. It is beautiful and Kai likes to admire it everyday.

I bought a new camera, it is waterproof and shockproof.  Kai will put it to the test, for sure.  Please bear with me as I learn how to use it with photos and rotations.

Having lunch at Taco DelMar
October means put on your fall colored clothes and head to your nearest pumpkin patch.  Kai and I did just that.  We went to the same farm as last year and had a blast.  It was in the 80s, we searched the field for the perfect pumpkin.  Kai was not a huge fan of the vines but liked the pumpkins.  We found the perfect pumpkin and then we went on Kai's first pony ride.  We had to wait on a long line but Kai managed and had his first ride.  We also went to the petting zoo.  Kai pulled the goat and the chickens tails.  We are working on being gentle.  Kai was also given a free ticket to the bounce house from a family that did not want to use it.  Kai loved the bounce house and jumped away.  After all the fun on the farm, Kai and had lunch at Taco DelMar.  Kai was in such a good mood, he was blowing kisses to the ladies going to lunch and cheesing for the camera.  He was also starving from all the fun.  It was another great day.
Had so much fun pumpkin picking

Bounce house Shark
The 84th BN hosted a Trunk or Treat supported by the FRG.  Thankfully our contribution was a haunted house so the soliders did the bulk of the work.  The whole family dressed up as sharks for this event.  There were games, the bounce house, and decorated trunks where the kids collected candy. Kai was agreeable to wear his costume after an intial protest.  Seeing his Mama and Pa dressed up might of helped.   Kai was not that interested in anything but the Bounce House.  He did not mind when the big kids jumped on him.  He did mind when we tried to take him out.  Kai would of stayed in the bounce house the whole event if we let him.  He was really hot in his costume but he did not care and jumped away.  After the trunk or treat, we came home and quickly went to Gerri's birthday party.  Then Kai smacked his head on the lanai and we went home.  It was a big night for the little shark.

Monthly Concert

Marine Corps Band
This month's concert at the Waialua Bandstand was the Marine Corps Band.  Kai took a 3 hour nap before this concert and we missed out on a free polo match with Waialua Fresh.  Building a huge tower tired Kai out.  We did have fun at the concert.

Aloha October and Aloha big waves.  Surf season rolled in wiht 20 foot waves and epic conditions.  Kai and his friend Mark Dale went to pipeline to check out the big waves.  The crowds were big, the waves big and the surfers crazy to be in there.
