After the pictures we spend some time at the aquarium before music class.  Kai loves it there and enjoyed watching the fish.  He really enjoyed all the other kids looking at the fish too.  I will have to take him back again when we have more time.  I did take enough pictures to make it look like we spent the whole day, there is something about a baby and fish.

Monk seal at Sunset Beach

Victor had off for work on a Monday.  We went to Turtle Bay together and then into Kahuku for lunch.  Kai loved playing in the ocean.  Of course we stopped and bought 5 mangos and 5 fresh coconuts.  Kai drank almost a whole coconut himself.  On the way home we briefly stopped at Sunset Beach so Victor could use the phone and spotted a Hawaiian monk seal.

Hello, June!  Summer is in full swing on the North Shore.  Kai finishes music class this month and we head on a family vacation to Alaska.  This time we are heading North to Fairbanks.  We plan to spend 2 days at Denali National Park so Kai can see the bears.

This month started with a concert in the park.  Olive and her mom joined us.  Kai ran around the whole time.  First he tried to storm the stage and then he just ran around having a blast.

Before music class we met up with Nicole the photographer and took some pictures for Kai's first birthday.  We went by the water and Kai of course ran in and was wet and sandy.

For Kai's first birthday, I scheduled an appointment with the local photographer we have been using.  I found an awesome photographer for an incredibly reasonable price through Groupon and this is the third time we have used her.  I have been having such a hard time catching Kai because he is always running away now.  Nicole was able to successful capture him.  Kai ran into the ocean and so he is a bit wet at the end.  But that is Kai.

Memorial Day Weekend

We had a busy Memorial Day weekend.  Kai had two birthday parties to attend and a BBQ.  ON Friday we walked to the beach with Caspian and Pa.  That night we all bycicled to Haleiwa for Shave Ice and Thai food.  Kai loves riding on the bike.
Saturday we headed to the windward side for Halle's first birthday at Lanikai.  It was perfect beach weather and Kai could not stay out of the water.  After this party we went to a BBQ at Victor's SFC house.  Kai had fun until he fell through their screen.
Sunday Kai relaxed at home and played with his toys.

Kai's birthday party was at Hale'iwa A'ili Beach Park about a mile from our house.  It is the beach we go to and see turtles.  I use to go there every afternoon before Kai was born. Kai's birthday was perfect Hawaiian weather. Victor and Travis set up a tent under a big shady tree. We decorated with pictures of Kai's first year, and 1rst birthday motif.
Kai had a great time running around with his friends, playing ball, offering seed pods to the babies, pushing Cora's stroller and playing with his friends.  In attendance were Cora, McKenzie, Halle, Anthony, Elijah, Guideon and Austin.  And their parents.
Kai loved when everyone sang him Happy Birthday.  He enjoyed smashing his cake.  I made my first cake from scratch with buttercream icing.  The rest of the party goers had a cupcake cake.  We served fruit kabobs, hummus, chips. pretzels and sandwiches.  Kai loves his billion bubble machine.  He was a happy boy and enjoyed all the attention.  He gave everyone a bucket with bubbles and a shovel as his goodie bag
