12 month check up

On May 24, Kai went to his pedatricain for his 12 month check up.  It was a Thursday evening so Pa was able to go too.  Kai and I are pros at the doctor now.  I know how to negotiate the stroller through the halls and I no longer get misty eyed when they call his name.  Kai weighed 20.6 pounds or 16% for weight( the doctor does not use a breastfeeding chart).  He is 29 inches long or 50% for height.  Tall and skinny.  Kai recived several shots too.  She said that he is ahead in his development and doing great.

Mother's Day

This year was my first mother's day with Kai out of my belly.  It is such a pleasure to wake up to his smiling face.  He even slept to 800 as a treat.  We rode our new bike and carrier to the Haleiwa Cafe then rode back home.  We then drove to Turtle Bay for 30 minutes in the sun.  The rest of the day was spent at home while Victor packed and relaxed from his busy week.  We then drove Victor to the airport after spending some time at his work.

As the family photographer, I have a self portrait from the day to remember my little angel baby on his first mother's day.  I will post a pic of Kai and I on the bike when we take one.

Kai loves going to the beach.  Since I had quaratined him from playdates and music class, we went to the beach almost everyday.  We frequent Turtle Bay as it's a nice relxing drive and we can buy fresh fruit and coconuts at the local farmstands.  We also went to Backyards for Olive's Party this month.

Baby Pool

Caspi likes the pool too

Playing with the hose is fun

This month I am trying to use baby as much as possible because soon my baby will be a toddler.  I found a baby pool that I was able to fit in the Prius.  I have been searching for a pool small enough and finally found one.  I filled it up for Kai and he absloutely loves it.  He has a huge smile on his little face.  He loves to splash and to climb in and out.

Hand Foot and Mouth

This is the first day it got worse from here
Poor Kai is sick.  He has hand foot and mouth.  It is quite popular in warm climates.  He started getting blisters on his hands on Saturday and then started with a consistent fever.  He was able to take motrin for his discomfort.  His little hands and feet became covered in blisters.  Kai was very uncomfortable and contagious.  It took over 10 days for the blisters to dry up but his hands are raw.  He missed playdates and music class.  Thankfully, Victor was able to go to the grocery store so we didn't run out of food.  Kai was still his happy self and took lots of baths to ease his discomfort.

Birthday Month

Happy May Day which happens to be Lei Day in Hawaii.  But to us the importance of the month, is Kai's first birthday.  He has become quiet the proficient walker and should be running around like a mad man at his birthday party.  His invitations are sent and his friends are ready to have some friend.  Because of Kai's popularity we moved the party from our house to Hale'iwa Ali'i Beach Park.  This is the beach close to our house where the turtles hang out.  There is lots of grass and shade.

Kai has several friends with May birthdays and he has 3 parties to attend.

Opening presents from Nana

Loved the way he was sitting in the light
Kai is walking and walking.  He loves goig to the beach and pratically runs into the ocean.  He loves playing along the shore and going in for a swim.  He also likes to walk around in the sand even though it involves face plants in the sand.  I think the extra layer of sand provides another barrier from the sun.
