Pa comes home

On Saturday, Victor came home from Arizona after being down there for a little over a month.  Kai was thrilled to see "didi". It was a busy Saturday, first we had a farewell picnic for the 84th BN at the Hale Koa and then we met up with Heather.  It was so nice to see Heather again and she spoiled Kai with lots of clothes.  Somehow, I forgot to take a picture or capture the moment.

Then we drove home and Victor was able to set up his 3 new pinball machines.  Travis came over and the boys had fun in the garage.  Kai was so excited he stayed up until 9:30.

One year in Hawaii

Today

Right off the plane

March 9, 2010 Waialua
March 8th marks the one year anniversary of our arrival on Oahu.  It has been quite a busy year!  We are now settled into our lives here.  I find it takes me about 9 months to fully settle in and become comfortable with where we live.  I now love Hawaii.  The weather has been perfect even the recent torrential downpours and flash flood warnings.  Hail did not fall in Waialua but it did on the Windward side.  Kai, Victor, Caspi and I have a nice fluid routine of walking to the beach.  Caspian has Oppa, Gracie and Buddy to play with.  Victor has all 6 of his pinball machines.  Kai's list of friends is growing but it is leaning a bit more on the girl side.  I have to work on finding baby boys for him to play with.  I have friends to spend time with.  And we know our way around.

My Hawaiian bucket list is growing.  Island Hopping is number one on that list.  I want to check out Kauai and Maui.  It would be nice to go back to the Big Island too.  We have to do it in the next 14 months while flying with Kai is free.  On my list on a hike to Kaena Point to see the monk seals, hike to several of the local waterfalls, hike Koko Head and Diamond Head.  I still want to get my diving certification and now that Kai is getting older I hope to do this soon.

March

Peekaboo

We actually had cool weather and Kai wore his pants!
Kai continues to be busy despite having his first ear infection.  Thankfully he is feeling better.  The poor boy had 4 top teeth come in at once.  Kai just wanted to be held even more.  Including all night long, he was my little snuggle buddy.  Thankfully he is on the mend.

Kai still loves his weekly music class at Ohana Music Together.  He is the teacher's pet, climbing on to Miss Peggy's lap and getting to do the dances with her.  He loves all the song but in particular, Trot Ol' Joe, Lukey's boat and Mr Rabbit are his favorite.  He loves anytime there are balls to roll around.

Kai enjoys having his friends over.  He had his friends Cora, Olive and McKenzie over.  He welcomed each little lady by pushing them over.  Hopefully, his manners will improve with age.

Playdate

Kai plays with some of his friends about once a week.  This week we went to his friend Halle's house and I remembered to take pictures.  The babies played in the pool.  Kai had fun crawling in and out of the pool.  I posted the pictures for this post in March :-)

Standing and Walking

Look, I am standing!

So now I should walk?!?

Going for it
Kai crawled before he would sit independently for any length of time.  So it only seems natural that the moment he is able to stand independently he move on to walking.  Kai has been able to stand for a few seconds and the time is gradually increasing.  With the increased time, Kai tries to take steps.  I want him to wait for Victor to come back home before he walks and have not encouraged hom.  He has a few short weeks before his Pa is back in Hawaii and then he can walk.

Papa's Birthday

Flashback to 4 months

Kai matching the pinball

Today is Victor's birthday which he is celebrating in Nogales, Arizona. Happy Birthday!!! Kai and I mailed some surprises to him.  In honor of Victor's birthday, here are some photos of Kai and pinball machines.  Kai loves all the lights of the pinball machines.  He likes to crawl on the glass adding an extra game playing distraction.  He loves spending time with his father and soon will be another pinball wizard.

9 month check up and books

9 month visit

touch!

taste
Kai had his 9 month visit with Dr. Olson on 2/16/12.  She said he is the healthiest baby she has seen all month.  He weighs 18, 13oz which puts him at 30 % for weight.  His height is 60% but I never was told what that is in inches and his noggin is 97%.  He is a genius.  There were no shots at this visit.  Kai left  a happy camper and we went to a FRG meeting.

Kai loves to read his books.  He really enjoys touch and feel books.  Kai really gets into it and even tastes the feel spots.
